The initiative is being carried out in partnership with UmeedJawan an initiative of USAID focusing on youth of Southern Punjab for engaging them in healthy activities while building their capacities on life-skills.
While organizing a regional Hockey Championship, Calyx foundation focused to provide opportunities to participating teams including players, coaches and their supporters through competitive sports events and interactive discussions on peace and tolerance hence bringing about a change in their behaviors and mindset. During the tournament, training and orientation sessions were also organized for the participating teams to promote peace, social cohesion, tolerance and healthy living like washing hands in their communities. These sports activities wereaimed to create a platform for the youth to open a window fostering debate and dialogue among the masses on CVE.
The project engaged the youth of Bahawalpur region in Hockey Championship at regional level while training them on life skills by industry leaders in soft skills and motivational trainings. The activity not only provided an opportunity to the grass root clubs and associations to take part in a regional level championship proving their skills and sports talent but also provided an opportunity to the vulnerable youth of the region to attend sessions on life skill trainings which enabled them to love their life more and spread peace and tolerance in refraining them to potentially join extremist outfits present in the area.The initiative engaged Islamia University of Bahawlapur, District Sports authorities, students, street hockey clubs, media and local CSOs.
